The UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residency program that allows foreign nationals to live, work, and study in the UAE without the need for a national sponsor

Expansion in business and career is what everyone aims at, but global expeditions often come with various legalities, and the constant visa renewals are another hassle. Well, you have a solution for it; many countries across the globe offer a Golden Visa. It is a type of long-term residency offered by certain countries; in fact, it's a gateway to global mobility, financial security, and long-term stability for business professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and skilled, talented individuals like artists, scholars, scientists, or athletes.

Owing to its special privileges, compared to other standard visas, it has been named the “Golden”. Now, the UAE is also offering the ‘Golden Visa’ to those who meet the required criteria> so in this blog, let's explore what its premises are for those who wish to apply for the same.

What Is the UAE Golden Visa?

The UAE introduced the Golden Visa in 2019 under a long-term residency program. It provides a self-sponsored residency, giving freedom and security to individuals and their families in the country, and is not tied to employment sponsorship or any kind of sponsorship visa that requires constant renewals.

Like many other ventures and leisure activities introduced by the UAE to attract business, in an effort to make itself the hub of innovation, investment, and world-class living, this Visa was designed to attract investors, talented professionals, and exceptional individuals. The Golden Visa typically grants 5-10 years of relaxation, depending on an applicant's category. For instance, investors, real estate buyers, entrepreneurs, talented professionals, artists or scientists, exceptional individuals like scholars and athletes, and frontline heroes.

It allows holders and their families to live, work, and study without requiring a local sponsor, and offers enhanced flexibility, such as extended stays outside the country. This also eliminates the uncertainty of a short-term visa and gives the holder the freedom to plan their future in the UAE with confidence.

Applicant Eligibility Categories & Requirements:

1.Investors & Property Owners:

  1. The applicant must have invested at least AED 2 million in real estate (mortgage financing is permitted), and it must be retained for at least 3 years.

Benefits of the Golden Visa:

If it's something that requires extraordinary eligibility, of course, it would have extraordinary benefits for the holder. They are as follows:

  1. Long-term residency: Compared to general visas, which offer up to 2 years maximum, the Golden Visa offers 5 or 10 years of visa, depending on the eligibility and criteria one meets. And if the applicant can maintain the conditions, this visa can be renewed.
  2. No sponsor required: Generally, for a visa in Dubai or the UAE, one requires a local sponsor, but this is a self-sponsored visa, giving the freedom from reliance and access to stay outside the UAE beyond normal limits.
  3. Family inclusion: most visas don't include family, and the ones that do are not long-term, but the Golden Visa holder enjoys multiple-entry privileges, allowing them to sponsor spouse, children, and often parents. The family members can also enjoy access to education, healthcare insurance, and a work permit, or explore a business expedition.
  4. Business flexibility: The Golden Visa holder is allowed up to 100% foreign ownership without requiring a local sponsor, is free to make investments, access banking, finance, and loans, and has a simplified trade license

Application Process:

There are obvious application fees that range from AED 1,000 to 2,000 across categories, and the normal processing time ranges from 1 to 3 months, depending on the category. Let's go about how to apply.

  •  Eligibility and Category: first, ensure you fall under the eligibility criteria for a golden visa, and then choose a category matching your profile (investment, talent, entrepreneurship, etc.).
